The phrase "Trust and Security First" is more than a slogan, it's a summation of our operating philosophies. It was decided upon as our slogan when we started this auction service because we couldn't find an online auction site that we trusted. They all either let the seller assume all risk, let the buyer assume all risk, or even worse, violated state laws. We submit that any online auction should, No; must, comply with the following to be a site that earns your trust:
- 1) Either an employee or an owner must hold valid auction licenses. We do(Maryland #21754 and North Carolina #6898), why can’t they? If you will notice, most auction sites have had to change their name to “online trading community” instead of auction site for this very reason.
- 2) Maintain an escrow account: When you buy a $5000 tractor, are you just going to mail $5000 to the seller and hope the tractor arrives as promised? Of course not. You would prefer to pay the auctioneer, let him hold your money in escrow, only to release the money to the seller when you are happy and in possession of the item. We are, to our knowledge, the only site that maintains an auctioneer’s escrow account in accordance with auctioneering laws and trade practices.
- 3) Be involved within the industry/pastime the items they are selling are associated with. Old Iron Auction is owned and operated by the same folks that bring you the oldest and largest web site for antique tractors and stationary(hit-n-miss) engines(http://www.atis.net), have two book credits(Antique Tractor Bible and How to Restore Your Farm Tractor Engine) and have between them many years of collecting experience. We are also the folks that bring you the ATIS Holiday and Portland Dinner Charity auctions: Auctions that have raised tens of thousands of dollars for charity.
Only when these requirements, in addition to a long track record customer service and satisfaction, can an auction site be trusted with your prized antiques. Contact us today to find out more about Old Iron Auction
